Mar 08, 2011 I can't close my 'word' document. The little red dot to close it is blank. When I try to quit Word, the 'quit' part of the menu is grayed out. (full day) and it won't let me close a blank word doc. Mac 2008 I created a word document - can't close it or save it, can't delete anything on the document (it's as if it's locked). Running Creative Suite 4 - Mac 10.5.6 - have been able to open a word doc and then use the 'print' function to create a pdf file - this file could be stored anywhere on my machine. My computer won't let me open any saved Microsoft Word documents as of the past 2 days. Had no problems with my - Answered by a verified Tech Support Specialist. Word then allowed me to save the document, but indicated it'd fixed some errors. At this point, I could click the Details button for a list of errors which had been fixed. This enabled me to save a document in Word 2010 format. I have a mapped network folder on my Mac. About a week ago everything was fine and I could save Word documents to my personal folder on the network drive. Now, I've been getting the following mess.
Hi, What is the OS X Version and what is the Word 2016 version? Please make sure both are the latest version and then check if this issue continues. Did you get any error message when it failed to save or save as? Does the issue occur when creating and saving a new file or only when editing and trying to save an existing file? Run windows program on mac. Does this issue happen to other Office programs, such as Excel or PowerPoint? In addition, some users were able to fix a similar issue via uninstalling and then reinstalling Office, you may also have try.
