He can't open the print dialog box from any application--Mail, Firefox, Quickbooks, Word, etc. He can't print anything at all because the dialog box won't open when selecting and or clicking the print icon if there is one in that application.

I just purchased a new iMac with iWork. When I open a Word doc. (via Office for Mac-carryover from my old iMac) it opens but will not print. To print it, I have to convert it to Pages, but in the conversion some fonts are incorrectly substituted and create text errors. I would prefer to leave the Word document as is, but cannot understand why it will not print. Unit converter for mac. Also, is the font substitution problem between Word and Pages very widespread and can anything be done to avoid it? Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Janbob Welcome to the forum. П™‚ Pages will warn you if there are any fonts missing and you have the option to fix the problem or substitute the fonts. You may have used old TrueType fonts previously, the new Mac will have OpenType versions. Excel for mac tutorial.

How to search for things on mac. You are saying that Word for Mac on your new iMac will not print? Check the top of the Print dialog box to see what printer it is attempting to print to and correct it to your actual attached printer. Your print jobs are probably being spooled to an old printer no longer available. I don't have the warning often enough to set off the exact sequence but it warns you that a font is missing and there is usually a method of substitution within the dialogue. As I said you are switching from a truetype font with restricted and, if Windows TTF, different character set to a Unicode font.
